The Passage Below by Chris Hedges and Sam Harris

The Passage Below by Chris Hedges and Sam HarrisThe Passage Below is an excerpt from Empire of Illusion by Chris Hedges and Sam Harris. It's a must read for everyone. There are several reasons why I recommend this book.Chris Hedges is an accomplished author and his new book is on par with his work in Desert Warrior, The Wild Geography of Fear, On Killing: A Memoir, The Death of Great Powers, and Other Essays, and other books that I like to call like it. His book is exceptional. If you are at all interested in politics or international affairs, read The Passage Below.Sam Harris has been called the most important living philosopher and his newest book, End of Faith, is similar. Sam is clearly more concerned with philosophy than he is about politics, but the political aspect is substantial. In the end, though, I found that I wanted to read his political-philosophical works because the arguments in those books were more powerful than those in The End of Faith. This is the third book by Sa m Harris and the first to contain a chapter on religion. I found it intriguing that he gave atheism a hearing in his new book. His previous books have also been highly acclaimed and I have always considered him one of the most important thinkers alive today. If you haven't read any of his work, then this book is a great place to start.I believe that one can argue that Sam Harris is a social philosopher and his discussion of the topic is fascinating. His book is well worth the time spent in reading it and I recommend it highly. The Passage Below is an excellent read and is a very good introduction to philosophy. It explains why political leaders fight amongst themselves and why they manipulate the public opinion so as to increase their power. It's an amazing piece of writing that will leave you awestruck and inspired. When you read Empire of Illusion by Chris Hedges and Sam Harris, you are reaping the benefits of two great thinkers that have dedicated their lives to advancing human con sciousness. They do a good job of explaining the conflicts that occur between the so-called 'enlightened' elite and the vast majority of people, who still want and need God. What I like about this book is that it does not promote any specific religion or theology; instead, it presents compelling arguments for why there are no rational grounds for belief in God.The reason that this book is written in the same vein as Ron Paul's End the Fed is that they both provide compelling arguments for why socialism is both unworkable and immoral. If you read the last chapter of Empire of Illusion by Chris Hedges, you will discover that the future of humanity is not as bright as most people think. If you don't think there is a crisis and not enough people are being saved, then don't waste your time reading The Passage Below. It's an interesting and thought-provoking book with some very valuable information.
